PE Shrink Film is widely used for:
| Material | Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) or Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) |
| Common Thickness | 12μm, 15μm, 19μm, 25μm (50 ga, 60 ga, 75 ga, 100 ga) |
| Width | Customizable, standard from 200mm to 2000mm |
| Core Size | 3-inch (76mm) or 1-inch (25mm) core, custom lengths on rolls |
| Shrinkage (MD/TD) | Typically 20-30% / 50-70% (can be customized) |
| Tensile Strength (MD/TD) | ≥ 20 MPa / ≥ 15 MPa |
| Elongation at Break (MD/TD) | ≥ 200% / ≥ 400% |
| Haze | ≤ 4.0% (for high clarity films) |
| Seal Strength | ≥ 2.0 N/15mm |
| Recommended Sealing Temp | 120°C – 150°C |
Q1: What is the difference between PE Shrink Film and PVC Shrink Film?
A: PE Shrink Film is made from polyethylene, is more flexible, tougher, and has a higher shrinkage force. It is recyclable (#4) and considered more environmentally friendly. PVC Shrink Film is clearer and glossier, with a lower shrink temperature, but is less eco-friendly and can emit chlorine gas when incinerated. PE is now the industry standard for most applications.
Q2: How do I choose the right thickness?
A: Thinner gauges (12-15μm) are for lightweight, uniform bundles. Medium gauges (19μm) are standard for most beverage and food multipacks. Thicker gauges (25μm+) are for heavy, sharp, or irregular products requiring extra puncture resistance (e.g., hardware).
Q3: What machinery is required?
A: You need an L-bar sealer (for manual or semi-auto bundling) or a fully automatic sleeve wrapper/flow wrapper. A heat tunnel (hot air or steam) is then required to activate the shrinkage. The film must be matched to your machine’s sealing system (impulse, constant heat).
Q4: Is it suitable for food contact?
A: Yes, we supply food-grade PE shrink film that complies with relevant food contact regulations (e.g., FDA CFR 21, EU 10/2011) for indirect food contact applications like bundling external packaging.
Q5: What is the MOQ and packaging?
A: Standard MOQ is one production roll (width and length as per order). Rolls are typically wrapped in stretch film on a core, packed in cartons or on pallets.
Q6: Can it be printed?
A: Yes, we can supply pre-printed PE shrink film with your logo, barcode, or promotional message using flexographic printing, typically in 1-2 colors. MOQ for printed film is higher.
