BOPP film is widely used in:
| Material | Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) |
| Common Thickness | 15μm, 20μm, 25μm, 30μm, 40μm |
| Surface Treatment | Corona treated on one or both sides for printability/adhesion |
| Tensile Strength (MD/TD) | > 120 MPa / > 200 MPa |
| Elongation at Break (MD/TD) | 100% – 180% / 40% – 80% |
| Haze | < 2.0% (for high clarity films) |
| Gloss (45°) | > 85% |
| Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) | 5 – 8 g/m²·day (38°C, 90% RH) |
| Heat Shrinkage (MD/TD, 120°C) | 4% – 6% / 1% – 3% |
| Roll Dimensions | Standard width: 1020mm, 1280mm; Length: 10,000m+ (customizable) |
Q1: What does “biaxially oriented” mean?
A: It means the polypropylene film is stretched in both the machine direction (MD) and transverse direction (TD) during manufacturing. This orientation aligns the polymer molecules, resulting in dramatically increased strength, stiffness, clarity, and barrier properties compared to non-oriented cast PP film.
Q2: What types of BOPP film do you supply?
A: We supply various types:
Q3: Is BOPP recyclable?
A: BOPP is technically recyclable (resin code #5 PP). However, in practice, its recovery from flexible plastic waste streams can be challenging. It is often downcycled. Using mono-material PP structures (e.g., BOPP/CPP) can improve recyclability compared to multi-material laminates.
Q4: How does it compare to BOPET (Polyester) film?
A: BOPP: Lower cost, better moisture barrier, higher clarity, lower temperature resistance (~120°C), moderate oxygen barrier. BOPET: Higher strength, superior oxygen and aroma barrier, higher temperature resistance (~150°C), higher cost. BOPP is preferred for many dry snacks; BOPET is used for coffee, meats, and high-barrier applications.
Q5: What is the MOQ?
A: Standard MOQ for a specific type and thickness is one production roll (approx. 500-1000 kg, depending on width and thickness). We can also supply sample rolls (50-100 kg).
Q6: Can you supply printed or metallized BOPP film?
A: We supply the base BOPP film. For printed or metallized versions, we work with trusted partner converters. We can provide a full supply chain solution, sourcing the finished printed/metallized film according to your specifications.
