HDPE is widely used in manufacturing:
| Material | High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) |
| Melt Flow Rate (MFR) 190°C/2.16kg | 5 – 20 g/10 min (Various grades available) |
| Density | 0.945 – 0.965 g/cm³ |
| Tensile Strength at Yield | 20 – 30 MPa |
| Elongation at Break | > 500% |
| Notched Izod Impact Strength (23°C) | 20 – 150 J/m |
| Heat Deflection Temperature (0.45 MPa) | 75 – 85 °C |
| FDA Status | Compliant (Food contact grades) |
| Processing Methods | Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Extrusion |
| Form | Natural pellets or colored masterbatch compounds |
Q1: What is the difference between HDPE and LDPE?
A: HDPE has a linear structure with minimal branching, resulting in higher density, strength, stiffness, and a higher melting point. LDPE is more branched, making it softer, more flexible, and clearer, but with lower strength and temperature resistance.
Q2: Is HDPE safe for food packaging?
A: Yes, food-grade HDPE resins that comply with FDA (USA), EU, and other regional regulations are specifically manufactured for direct food contact. They are free from harmful additives and are considered safe.
Q3: What does Melt Flow Rate (MFR) indicate?
A: MFR measures the flowability of the melted plastic. A higher MFR indicates easier flow, suitable for thin-wall or complex parts. Lower MFR grades offer better mechanical strength and are used for thicker parts or blow molding.
Q4: Can HDPE be used for hot-fill applications?
A: Standard HDPE has a heat deflection temperature around 80°C. It is generally not suitable for hot-fill processes above ~70°C. For hot-fill juices or sauces, materials like PET or specially formulated heat-resistant polypropylene (PP) are used.
Q5: What is the MOQ and packaging?
A: Standard MOQ is one 25kg bag for samples and one metric ton (40 bags of 25kg) for production orders. We supply in 25kg woven PP bags with inner liner.
Q6: Do you provide technical data sheets (TDS) and samples?
A: Yes, we provide TDS for each grade. Free samples (1-2 kg) are available for testing and trial production.
